COMPARATIVE ADJECTIVES (So sánh hơn tính từ)

1.Cách sử dụng so sánh hơn của tính từ

=> Dùng để so sánh 2 người hoặc vật với nhau.

a, So sánh hơn với tính từ ngắn

-Tính từ ngắn (short adj) là tính từ có:

+1 âm tiết: big, tall, small, high,hot…

+ 2 âm tiết (tận cùng là các chữ: y, ow, le, et, er): happy, narrow, simple, quiet....

Ex: Tom is taller than Jim. (Tom cao hơn Jim)

Công thức: S1+ be (am/ is/ are)+ adjer + than +S2

Lưu ý:

- Tính từ đuôi “y” => “ier”. happy- happier

- Tính từ đuôi “e”=> thêm “r”. large – larger

- Tính từ đuôi nguyên âm + phụ âm => gấp đôi phụ âm và thêm “er”. big - bigger

b, so sánh hơn với tính từ dài

-Tính từ dài (long adj) là tính từ có:

+ 2 âm trở lên: modern, crowded, peaceful, beautiful, …..

  3. b, so sánh hơn với tính từ dài - Tính từ dài (long adj) là tính từ có: + 2 âm trở lên: modern, crowded, peaceful, beautiful, Ex: The city house is more modern than the country house. Công thức: S1+ tobe (am/ is/ are)+ more + adj + than +S2
  4. Act 2: Read and complete Vy’s letter to her friend. Dear Nick, How are you? Ha Noi is beautiful! But it is too busy and polluted for me. I’m at Cua Lo Beach now. I’m having a great time.   5. Act 4. Work in pairs. Ask and answer questions about Binh Minh and Long Son neighbourhoods using the pictures in 3. Example: A: Is Binh Minh noisier than Long Son? B: Yes, it is. A: Is Long Son more modern than Binh Minh? B: No, it isn’t.
