D. PROCEDURE:   

I. Warm up: + Ask Ps to sing the chant When’s your birthday? on page 28.

II. New lesson:

1. Vocabulary: Teach vocabulary: can, skip, skate, cook, swim, draw a cat, sing, dance …

2. Presentation:

+ T sets the scene. 

+ Ps listen to the recording for the first time as a model.

+ T explains Ps’ duties. (Ps listen and repeat the dialogue.)

+ Ps listen and do the task (Ps role play in groups, pairs, or do the task individually). Ps repeat, paying special attention to the pronunciation of the words day, Monday, Tuesday…

+ One group repeat Mai’s part and the other Phong’s part and Nam’s part. Repeat the step, the groups swap their roles.

+ T checks Ps’ understanding.

+T gives new language: * Sentence Patterns: _What can you do? _ I can (dance).

 3. Practice: (Point and say):

+ Ask Ps to look at the people on P30. Help them to identify who they are and what they can do. 

+ Ask Ps to practise asking and answering the question What can you do?

  1. + Ask Ps to work in pairs. Ps work in pairs to practice, using the pictures and the word cues below. + Select some pairs to demonstrate this task in front of the class. Some pairs demonstrate the task. Monitor the activity and offer help. 4. Listen and tick: + Ask Ps to look at the pictures on page 31. Ask Ps to tick the correct pictures. +Play the recording through. Ps listen. +Play the recording again. Ps do the task. + Play the recording once more. Ps check their answers. + Ask Ps to exchange their answers with their partners before reporting them to the class. + Announce the answers. * Transcript: * Answers: 1.a 2.c 3.a 5. Look and write: + Ask Ps to open their SB on P31. Ask Ps to look at the activities in the pictures. Help Ps to identify the missing verbs in the gaps. Tell Ps that they are going to fill the gaps with right verbs (activities). + Give Ps time to do the task independently. + Get Ps to swap their answers before checking as a class. * Key: 1. dance 2. skate 3. swim 4. cycle 6. Let’s play: + Ps are going to play the game Guessing Game. Follow the procedure in Games in Introduction. + Check comprehension. + Ps play the game. III. Follow up: + Get Ps to work in pairs to ask and answer questions about what someone can/can not do. IV. Summary: In this lesson, Ps have learnt: + To ask and answer the questions about what someone can or can not do. + To listen for specific information. V. Homelink: + Learn by heart vocabulary and the way to ask and answer about what someone can or can not do. + Do exercises in the workbook part B.
